My name is Glen Hay.  I grew up in Ohio and was educated in New Jersey, where I attended the Kubert School of Cartooning. Soon after graduating my work caught the attention of the Jim Henson Company, which taught me independent design and old-school craftsmanship. I moved forward to work with the Sesame Street crew handling their overseas cast of characters and learning the culture of the European markets. For the last 12 years I have worked in the toy industry creating classic toys mainly made from wood.

I founded zooMODERN as an umbrella for my diverse interests, ranging from puppetry to sculpting to illustration to the contemporary toy culture.

zooMODERN is a New York City area based producer of everyday objects made from sustainable, eco-friendly wood.  Our goal is to create products that inspire modern design with a sense of humor.  We believe in the appreciation for the beauty in wood, the principle of simplicity of design and the act of fun in life.
